Meet Chris

March 13, 2015

Hawthorn Builders would like to make a long overdue introduction to one of our Project Managers, Chris Palenscar.  Chris has been with Hawthorn for five years now and has recently completed a series of large scale renovation projects in Needham and Newton.  Below is a quick Q & A with our hard-working teammate.

Chris LP:  Tell me a little bit about your background:

CP :  I started doing carpentry at the age of 16 working for an architect in Topsfield, MA who was building his own house.  Looking back, my twin brother and I have always been interested in carpentry and began doing small projects around our childhood home at an early age.

When I was 22, I got a job working as a carpenter for a design/build company based out of Newburyport, MA. This was my first full job time exclusively doing carpentry work. After a couple of years, I moved up to lead carpenter and stayed there for 5 years.  From there I relocated to Attleboro, MA and started my own company, Palenscar Building and Remodeling.  I spent years doing small renovation projects (including custom decks, kitchen, bathroom and basement remodels).

My relationship with Hawthorn Builders began 3 years ago when my older brother introduced me to Ryan who offered me a job doing built-ins and interior finish work for the company.  Approximately a year ago I was given the opportunity to complete estimates and oversee large scale renovations and additions as a project manager.

LP:  What would you consider your specialties?

CP :  I would consider my specialties to include custom built-ins, interior finish work and an overall strong understanding of the construction process.

LP:  What is your favorite part of your job?

CP :  The progression of work is easily my favorite part of the job. From meeting the clients for the first time, seeing their vision and working with them through all of the different stages of construction to finally reveal the final product; that is the most rewarding part.

LP:  What do you enjoy the most about working with Hawthorn?

CP:   The professionalism of everyone I work with here at Hawthorn is refreshing.  In the construction field it is hard to find people who are this professional and passionate about their work.  We consistently work with the same group of subcontractors throughout the year which helps to create a small community that is based on trust.

Chris resides in Attleboro with his wife and twin daughters.  If you are interested in having a remodel or renovation work done to your home, please visit our website or call us directly at 781-707-6564.
